What are the best personal finance resources for 20somethings? I am 23 years old, a college graduate just starting off my career. No kids or marriage yet. A lot of what I've seen seems like good advice yet geared toward people with families, established in careers, and with tons of debt.
What is a good personal finance website to link all my accounts? I am looking for a personal finance website that can link all my accounts for a single view. I read about one months ago that had a community feel to it wherein people categorized their transactions and then the system learned and could match similar transactions across the community - i.e. you tell it that Kroger is a grocery and it will categorize my Kroger spending as grocery. I am looking for a simple site that is free and can bring some value other than just aggregating my data to one location. Any help is good help - thanks in advance.
What would make you read a personal finance blog? I'm thinking of starting a personal finance blog. The types of topics I plan to cover are: budgeting, building wealth, risk management, asset management, and other topics that, admittedly, can be a bit "dry" to many people. I want to attract a wide variety of people, not just bean-counters; I'd like it to be for everyone. What would it take to make you read a blog like that? Humor? Some additional, more interesting topics? Bios of wealthy people? Contests?

Why are we Americans so uneducated / misinformed about personal finance? How can so many be so ignorant about something so important? Do ppl acutally think that that the gov't is going to give them 800 bucks; do they not realize that they have to pay it back on next years income tax? Or at least have that deducted from their refund. How can so many fall for the Payday loan scams? How did so many get into ARM mortgages? Why don't ppl educate themselves about personal finance?
Can you please help me with a few personal finance questions? You would be a great help for answering this. Thanks! 1. Do you believe there is a product out there that educates people on personal finance effectively? 2. If so, do you believe these products are priced fairly? 3. If given the choice, would you participate in a membership forum that promotes financial literacy through progression programs, meaningful discussions, and award honors? 4. How much do you think is a reasonable price to join a forum like the one described in the last question? 5. What type of information would you like to see if this forum existed?

I have looked through the half.com $1 selections and the library, but it seems many of the books on this topic are filled with 100's of pages of common sense (i.e. give up your latte's, put 10% of earnings in a high yeild savings). I would like something that covers the basics for retirement planning, and personal investment, etc. Any suggestions?

How do I legally offer personal finance consultations without a formal (accounting) degree/background? I only want to provide debt payoff, timely bill payment, and budget adherence information, in which the first matter is customized to the client. The latter two matters are simply universally applicable processes to follow. I would provide NO information on investing. I just feel that such a 1:1 consultation would help so many people get their finances in order--but of course I would need to have them sign a document that says what I provide them are only guidelines and not a sure-fire formula for success.
What are some good websites for personal finance assistance? I would like to find some good advice for someone who is not very good at managing her finances. This person has had some major repercussions as a result including a foreclosure, vehicle repossesion, and many problems with collection agencies. Currently this person is facing possible wage garnishment and is looking at filing bankruptcy for the second (!!) time. I strongly believe that if she files bankruptcy it will only mask the real problems that much longer so what she really needs is some good advice. If you know of any good websites, or have any good advice, I would appreciate your input.

Personal Finance Careers? How would one get into personal finance as a career? I love to learn about how money works, how to treat it with respect, teach others how to do the same, and eventually...teach young people how to manage money and stay out of irresponsible debt. Just knowing how much debt is out there and the thoughts and behaviors of people who make these money mistakes makes me want to offer a helping hand in solving this problem. I have the heart of a teacher and can speak with conviction...but need to learn more and find an open door for this. Any insight?

Yahoo Personal Finance numbers: when I copy paste the numbers into excel, 2 columns duplicate the same numbers For the last 2 months or so, when I pull up yahoo personal finance, it looks normal, when I highlight the page to copy the cells then paste them into an excel spreadsheet, inside two of the columns (only) the numbers duplicate within the column. One set normal, the other bold. Those two columns are "gain" and "holdings value". It is really annoying and my original thought was it was my excel software problem. But this problem occurs on several computers with different versions of excel. The problem is repeated constantly. Would appreciate some help to stop this annoying problem.

Why don't Schools teach personal finance? I've never taken a course called 'personal finance' or 'how to get rich'. Have you? I have also never been given a reading list for personal development or wealth building books like.. "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill, "The Richest Man in Babylon" by George S. Clason, or "The Science of Getting Rich" by Wallace D. Wattles. Why is that? Tangerine: If you ask a millionaire, at least 1 out of 5 would have read one of the books above, and have used the principles taught in the books (or something similar).
What is the best personal finance software for a Mac? (most reviews of Quicken are negative).? What is the best personal finance software for a Mac? I am hoping to get an answer from someone who has personal experience with some budget software who likes the product they are using.

Where can I find a site like Yahoo Answers about personal finance? I develop custom spreadsheet applications. Some of them can be viewed at this link. http://groups.google.com/group/exce... I have been asked, and have provided, personal finance tracking applications in Excel. Does anyone know of a site, similar to Yahoo Answers, where people go to ask questions about personal finance. I have checked Yahoo Answers personal finance area, and it seems that people are mostly concerned with what's fair or not or did I get ripped off. Nothing wrong with this. Great place for help. But I am interested in finding out what kind of applications people are interested in. Or, if you have a request, I am here. ;) Thanks and God Bless Frank Pytel

Looking for the episode of "This American Life" about a Personal Finance Radio Show? A few years ago the NPR radio show, "This American Life" did an episod that talked about a call in radio show. On this show people called in and asked questions about personal finance and debt. The point of the story was that while on the surface people were asking about personal finance, what made the show special was the human connection of people who were in tough straights and striving to be better off. Anyway, I've looked through the "This American Life" website: http://www.thislife.org/ but am having troubling finding the show. Anyone know which one it is? Micah
